Russia has launched a significant missile attack on Ukraine, resulting in at least 12 civilian deaths and the injury of dozens more. This attack, described as one of the largest of the war to date, struck residential buildings and key infrastructure in Kyiv, the south, and west of the country. In Kyiv, ten people were trapped under rubble at a damaged warehouse, and a maternity ward in Dnipro was hit but reported no casualties. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba highlighted the gravity of the situation, urging global support for Ukraine.
The attack targeted critical infrastructure, industrial, and military facilities, causing power outages in various regions, including Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kyiv. In Dnipropetrovsk, a shopping center, a private home, and a six-story residential building were struck, resulting in five deaths. Kyiv’s mayor reported one death at a warehouse, while the Black Sea port city of Odesa suffered three deaths and at least 15 injuries, including two children, due to missile strikes on residential buildings.
In the Lviv region, which borders NATO member Poland, missiles hit a critical infrastructure facility, killing one person and damaging three schools and a kindergarten. Kharkiv witnessed a missile strike that damaged multiple facilities and resulted in one death and 11 injuries. Zaporizhzhia also faced attacks on its infrastructure, with one reported fatality.
This attack reflects the ongoing tensions and the severity of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, further escalating the situation nearly two years into the war.
