PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – A tragic update has been provided in the aftermath of a severe motor vehicle accident in Panama City Beach. The Panama City Beach Police Department confirmed at 8:45 p.m. on January 5, 2024, that the motorcyclist involved in the crash has succumbed to their injuries.
The accident occurred shortly after 4:40 p.m. in the 11000 block of Panama City Beach Parkway, near the intersection with Richard Jackson Boulevard. According to the police report, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound near the Home Depot on PCB Parkway when the collision happened. A pickup truck, which was heading east on the parkway, attempted to make a left turn across the westbound lanes into the Home Depot parking lot and collided with the motorcyclist.
Emergency responders, including a Bay County EMS ambulance, arrived at the scene swiftly. The motorcyclist, who had sustained critical injuries, received immediate medical attention. Despite the efforts of the first responders, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Panama City Beach Police officials noted that there were no other injuries reported from the incident. Additionally, they mentioned that alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The incident is now under the investigation of the Panama City Beach Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit. This tragic event has raised concerns about road safety in the area, especially regarding the interaction between motorcyclists and other vehicles.
The crash caused significant traffic disruptions on Panama City Beach Parkway, also known as Back Beach Road. Westbound lanes were blocked, and eastbound lanes experienced slow movement as authorities worked at the scene. CPR was performed on the motorcyclist between Alf Coleman Road and Richard Jackson Blvd, as witnessed by our crew.
