PINE HILLS, Fla. – A tragic incident occurred in Pine Hills early Sunday, where a 71-year-old Orlando man lost his life in a hit-and-run crash while cycling.
The accident happened around 1:10 a.m. on Powers Drive, just south of Indian Hill Road. The cyclist, heading south, was struck by an unidentified vehicle, which then fled the scene.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the vehicle involved failed to slow down or stop, hitting the cyclist with the front right side. The man was urgently taken to a hospital but sadly pronounced dead.
In a key development, FHP investigators discovered a car part at the crash site, believed to be from a 2021-2023 Kia K5. The specific color of the vehicle is unknown, but it is likely to have front-right damage.
