D’Trevious Sharron Epps, 26, has been sentenced to a five-year term in federal prison, followed by a four-year supervised release period, for his involvement in methamphetamine distribution. Epps, who entered a guilty plea on August 22, 2023, was charged with possessing and intending to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine.
The conviction stems from multiple incidents where Epps engaged in the sale of narcotics to confidential informants in both Duval and Nassau Counties during September and October of 2022. His arrest occurred on October 13, 2022, by the Florida Highway Patrol while en route to a drug transaction. At the time of his apprehension, Epps had in his possession substantial quantities of illegal drugs, including 148 grams of methamphetamine, 19 grams of fentanyl, and 24 grams of cocaine, along with three firearms. In his guilty plea agreement, Epps consented to the forfeiture of these firearms to law enforcement.
The collaborative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Highway Patrol led to the successful investigation of this case. Assistant United States Attorney John Cannizzaro was responsible for the prosecution.
This case is a part of the broader Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative, a nationwide program that unites law enforcement at all levels with communities to curb violent crime and gun violence, aiming to create safer neighborhoods. The Department renewed its commitment to PSN on May 26, 2021, with a strategy emphasizing community trust, support for violence prevention organizations, strategic enforcement priorities, and results measurement.
